Twenty minutes up the fire road out of Ojai, on four acres of oak and chaparral, with the whole valley laid out below the deck. Cedar inside and out, a wood stove that heats the place in half an hour, and an outdoor bath under the pepper tree that is the reason most people come back.
The kitchen is stocked for real cooking — a proper knife, cast iron, coffee ground for you the morning you arrive. Wifi runs at 340 Mbps if you have to work a day of it.
The stove is not decorative — it ran the whole cabin on two logs an evening. We stopped checking our phones by the second night, which I think is the point of the place.
